North Central Michigan College is offering individuals the opportunity to participate in an archaeological dig in Israel this summer.  This field school dig will run July 9 through August 8 with a two, three or four week option. Join North Central instructor, Owen Chesnut, in valuable archaeological excavations at Ashdod-Yam.  Mr. Chesnut is the head archaeologist at the site of Ashdod-Yam, a port city for the Iron Age (700 BC) and was one of the five major Philistine cities. Excavations focus on finding evidence for Assyrian occupancy at the site. Tours around Israel to Jerusalem, Masada and the Dead Sea will also be offered on the weekends.

The cost ranges from $3,650 for two weeks to $4,675 for all four weeks and includes airfare, room and board, travel/health insurance and additional meals and travel around the country.  The cost does not include the regular college tuition for the course Participants must apply to North Central and register for ANP 297. 

There will be four information sessions in the main administration building, room 123:

Monday, April 24 – 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Thursday, April 27 – 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
