NEWS RELEASE – April 9, 2008
Jeff Dowd, the real-life inspiration for the Jeff Bridges character, “The Dude,” in the Coen Brothers film, “The Big Lebowski,” will appear at North Central Michigan College for a Lecture Series presentation on Tuesday, April 22. The program will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Student and Community Resource Center. Admission is free.
Although largely unknown to the general public, Dowd helped the Coen Brothers sell their first film, “Blood Simple,” and played an important role in the success of “The Blair Witch Project.” Dowd was a co-founder of Sundance and worked such films as “Gandhi,” “Chariots of Fire,” and “The Black Stallion.” Dowd will tell stories about his personal experiences and discuss his upcoming book, “The Dude Abides! Classic Tales and Rebel Rants.” He will also host a party at Northern Lights Recreation after his talk.
