Michigan
Competitive Scholarship Program
The Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority provides competitive
scholarships not to exceed the amount of the regular tuition and fees
at North Central Michigan College.
An applicant must
be a resident of Michigan, graduate from a Michigan high school, and qualify
as a result of his/her performance on the ACT. The applicant must not
have attended a college following graduation from high school or prior
to the qualifying examination. A student must be in good standing and
have at least a 2.0 (C) GPA to renew the scholarship.
High school seniors
should see their high school counselor for test dates and registration
materials.
Michigan

previously:
1. Be enrolled on
a part-time basis (3-11 credit hours) as an undergraduate student in a
certificate or associate degree program at North Central.
2. Qualify as a self-supporting
student according to current federal criteria.
3. Demonstrate financial
need for funds through completion of the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid.
4. Be out of regular
high school for at least two years.
5. Have been a Michigan
resident for at least the 12 preceding months.
6. Be a U.S. citizen
or permanent resident.
7. Not be incarcerated
in a corrections institution.
Michigan
Work-Study Program
The MWS program is designed to provide work opportunities for needy undergraduate
students who enroll on at least 3/4-time basis. At NCMC this program complements
the Federal Work-Study Program and has the same eligibility requirements
with the added requirement of 12 months Michigan residency.
Michigan
Educational Opportunity Program
The MEOG program is designed to provide grant assistance for needy undergraduate students who are enrolled on at least a half-time basis in a certificate or associate degree program at North Central. Grants under this program at North Central typically range from $100 to $1000. The program complements the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program and has the same general eligibility requirements with the added requirement of 12 months Michigan residency.
Michigan
Indian Tuition Waiver Program
North Central honors the Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver. Students who
were certified by the Michigan Commission on Indian Affairs prior to 1994
and who are in good academic standing are eligible for the waiver. Students
new to North Central since 1994 must provide the Financial Aid Director
with documentation from their tribal leaders that they meet the one quarter
quantum blood requirement, and in addition, must provide proof that they
(and their parents, if dependent students) have been Michigan residents
for the preceding year of enrollment at North Central. Continued eligibility
requires adherence to North Central's academic standards.
