Fall, Winter, and Summer Semesters:

Semesters and and Academic Calendar

Semesters
The Fall and Winter semesters last 16 weeks each. The Summer semester is 8 weeks long and is accelerated. An accelerated semester means each course will meet double the number of hours in a week compared to the fall and winter semester. For example, a 3 credit hours course meets 3 hours a week during a 16 week semester. During Summer, a 3 credit hours course will meet 6 hours a week for the 8 week Summer semester.

Research tells us that to earn A’s and B’s in college for every hour in class you should plan to spend 2-3 hours outside of class engaged in studying and working on papers and or projects.

The College considers 6 credit hours full-time for enrollment purposes in the Summer. For financial aid purposes, 12 credit hours are necessary for full-time status, even in the summer.

Academic Calendar
The College establishes important dates for each semester. The dates and deadlines are published in the Academic Calendar. These dates and deadlines are important because they provide you with information such as when registration and semesters begin and end and when Holidays and Spring Break are scheduled.
