Dual Enrollment Steps

Welcome! North Central offers high school students an opportunity to attend college while in high school in accordance with Michigan Dual Enrollment legislation. High school students in grades 11 and 12 may be eligible for dual enrollment as recommended by their high school.

Follow the steps below to prepare for your dual enrollment experience at North Central.

Step One: Get ready

Talk to your parents and your high school counselor. They will assist you in completing the necessary paperwork to enroll in college and participate in dual enrollment. High school obligations, course selection and scheduling need to be discussed, as well as costs.  You may be required to pay for tuition, fees and books, as dual enrollment students are not eligible for financial aid.

Step Two: Apply for admission
Complete the online North Central Application for Admission free of charge. Each student is mailed a letter of acceptance, a listing of next steps to complete and a student number.

Step Three: Submit your ACT scores or take the COMPASS
Testing assists in placing students in courses to maximize their success . If you have taken the ACT you do not need to take the COMPASS. There is no cost for the first COMPASS test. The COMPASS may be taken in the Learning Support Service lab located in the Student and Community Resources Center in Petoskey or at the Cheboygan, Gaylord and East Jordan centers. No appointment is necessary. Petoskey phone: 231-348-6682
