NATIONAL MANUFACTURING DAY AT NORTH CENTRAL MICHIGAN COLLEGE
North Central Michigan College will take part in a nationwide focus on manufacturing by hosting a public, community open house in its CNC manufacturing labs on Thursday, October 3, 2019.
The event will be held from 4:00—7:00 p.m. in the TECH Building, Room 228, on the Petoskey campus. An open house format encourages guests to drop in at any time to learn about the program, tour the shop, and talk to current North Central students who will be offering demonstrations on the machines.
“Whether you are interested in machine operation, design, engineering, or even the business side of the industry, manufacturing careers offer something for everyone,” said Kevin Glines, director and instructor for North Central’s CNC manufacturing program. “Not only does the industry boast a variety of challenging and fulfilling careers, manufacturing jobs also offer great pay and the opportunity for advancement.”
North Central’s event dovetails with National Manufacturing Day, held annually on the first Friday in October. National Manufacturing Day aims to promote manufacturing jobs to high school students as a post-secondary career path option, and to build awareness for the important role of manufacturers in communities.
From October 8—10, area students will have the opportunity to tour some of the region’s most unique and important manufacturing facilities. Tours will take place during school hours at numerous plants in Charlevoix, Emmet and Antrim counties.
