North Central Michigan College will present two international lectures on Wednesday, November 14 and Thursday, November 15 in the Library Conference Center.  On Wednesday, November 14, a lecture on the necessity of cyber security will be presented at noon by Steven Bucci. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Steven P. Bucci, who served America for three decades as an Army Special Forces officer and top Pentagon official, is now a full time speaker, teacher, and coach as well as a Visiting Fellow for Special Ops and Homeland Security and primary instructor in leadership for a leading think tank.  Since moving to Michigan full time, he has also been focusing on working to improve community security.

Bucci’s research and writing have focused on cyber security, special operations and defense support to civil authorities, particularly disaster management. He presently focuses on all types of security for small town America.

            On Thursday, November 15, there will be a presentation by videographer Peter Sinclair on dark show and climate change.  This lecture will be at 7 p.m. Mr. Sinclair will discuss the latest global climate change information from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) 2018 report. He will also discuss his personal work with climate scientists on the mystery of the dark snow and its effect as well as some local climate change impacts on Michigan and solutions.

            Peter Sinclair is a Michigan-based videographer specializing in issues of climate change and renewable energy solutions and produces the video series, "This is Not Cool," for Yale Climate Connections, a project of the Yale University School of Forestry. Mr. Sinclair is also media director of The Dark Snow Project, a crowd-funded science and communication effort focusing on the Greenland ice sheet and sea level rise. He has just returned from his sixth stay on the Greenland ice sheet, where he has been monitoring scientists’ fieldwork.

            No reservations are necessary for either lecture.
