NORTH CENTRAL ART STUDENTS WIN COMPETITION

North Central art students, Susan Metzger and Patricia Baker, recently received awards at the Great Lakes Regional Community College Exhibition at Wayne State University.  Susan received a $4,000 First Place WSU Scholarship Award for her kiln-formed glass micro-mosaic “Amongst the Birches” and Patricia a $2,000 Honorable Mention WSU Scholarship Award for her kiln-formed glass “Rain in the Garden.”

The annual exhibit is presented by the James Person Duffy Department of Art & Art History at Wayne State, and will run through August 18. The exhibition features artworks created by students and instructors at Glen Oaks Community College, Mott Community College, North Central Michigan College and Schoolcraft College.  Wayne State University scholarship awards were given to students for their outstanding artworks in the exhibition, including the following: $5,000 Best of Show WSU Scholarship Award; $4,000 First Place WSU Scholarship Award; $3,000 Second Place WSU Scholarship Award and several $2,000 Honorable Mention WSU Awards.
