Student Success -- How to Pay

Tuition and Fees

Tuition depends on the number of credits you take each semester; however, there are other costs that should be factored into your estimated total expenses.  To best calculate this amount and see the current tuition costs see the Tuition Estimator.

Financial Aid

To apply for Federal Financial Aid visit the FAFSA website.  North Central Michigan College’s code is 002299.  To visit the North Central Financial Aid website to contact advisors, look for eligibility, and browse through other Financial Aid information go here.

Financial Aid Programs

SCHOLARSHIPS are funds that do not have to be repaid. Scholarships are based primarily on academic achievement and may or may not be based on need. Outside/private scholarships have deadlines established each academic year.
GRANTS offered at North Central are funds that do not have to be repaid. They are primarily based on demonstrated need and are developed for students who do not possess a bachelor’s degree. Students apply using the FAFSA.

  • Federal Pell Grants
  • Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants
  • Academic Competitiveness Grant

Student employment and student loans are also another resource of financial aid. Students must complete the FAFSA in order to be considered for Federal or State work or loans.

Semester Registration and Payment Dates

Registration and Payment dates change each year so it is important to view the dates to make sure they are completed on time.  Both dates for the coming semesters can be found here.  For Refund Policy and Dates or information regarding the Automatic Payment Plan follow the links.

Residency

North Central recognizes three separate residency groupings for purposes of levying tuition rates: In-District (Emmet County residents), In-State (Michigan residents who live outside of Emmet County) and Out-of-State (residents of other states).  For residency determination, a student must have resided within the State of Michigan or in Emmet County for at least six months immediately prior to the first day of classes of the semester in which he/she plans to enroll.  For more information, visit the Residency for Tuition Purposes page.
