Student and Community Resource Center (SCRC)

The North Central Michigan College Student and Community Resource Center (SCRC) features three official NCAA-size basketball courts, a community walking track and circuit/cardio fitness rooms.

Student Use: 

Any current North Central student may use the basketball courts by simply showing a valid North Central student ID card at the fitness office.

Community Use: 

Members of the community are able to access the Resource Center walking track at no cost and the courts for a small daily fee:

  • 0-6 years of age - FREE
  • 7-18 years of age - $2 per person
  • 19 and up - $3 per person

For frequent court users, the resource center offers individual and family pass punch cards.

Community Interest Classes:

North Central Michigan College’s Student and Community Resource Center will be offering community interest classes for the community this fall.  Classes start on September 4 and run through November.

High Intensity Interval Training


September 4 – November 8

12:05 p.m. – 12:50 p.m.

$60 for all 10 weeks.

Join personal trainer Nan Casey for this great cardio-aerobic training done in intervals to raise the heart rate and then cool down.  Exercises will be based on ability. This 45-minute workout helps you burn fat, improve strength and regain your balance.  No need to shower or even change clothes! Come once a week or all three days each week.


Parkinson’s Exercise Class

Tuesdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. or

Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

September 4 – November 8

$60 for all 10 weeks.  Select which day (Tuesday or Thursday)

Join personal trainer Nan Casey for strength, balance and voice amplification training for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.  This class will incorporate boxing. Wheelchair accessible.


Drum Aerobics

Fridays, 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.

September 21-October 26

$60 for all six weeks

Join Lynn Turner, executive director of the Northern Michigan Drum Village for this moderate to intense rhythmic class can be modified for people of all ages and differing abilities. The stability ball acts as a power drum with the use of lightly weighted drumsticks as participants are guided to drum and move for a total body-toning and cardio workout.



Mondays and Wednesdays

6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.       $60/mo.     Payment due on the 3rd of each month

Gym Court #3-A - SCRC

Learn Isshin-Ryu Karate, a traditional Okinawan Martial Art. This class teaches basic hand-foot techniques, forms (Kata), empty-hand sparring and self-defense techniques.  The practice of martial arts will improve your physical conditioning, endurance, self-confidence, discipline and concentration at work or school.  Instructor: Sensei Tim Reeves, 5th Degree Black Belt, Board Certified Instructor Isshin-Ryu Karate & Self Defense, and 17-year karate teacher.

Team Court Rentals: 

Official teams from surrounding schools are able to rent courts for practice or games. Coaches or team officials are encouraged to contact the SCRC Administration Office for information on pricing and available times and space.
