North Central Michigan College is inviting students, employees and community members to make mental wellness a priority this fall with a series of free Talk About It Tuesdays sessions exploring practical mental health topics.

Held in the NCMC Library throughout September and October, the sessions will provide a welcoming, safe environment for learning, conversation and connection. Topics range from managing everyday stress and navigating artificial intelligence to understanding ADHD and discovering local mental health resources.

The schedule includes:

  • Sept. 15 | Managing Stress for Success | 2:30–3:30 p.m.
NCMC counselor Joelle Drader will present a practical, proactive, strengths-based approach to managing stress. Participants will learn to reframe stress as something they can work with and manage rather than something they must eliminate.
  • Sept. 22 | AI and Mental Health | 2:30–3:30 p.m.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly woven into everyday life, what does it mean for mental health? Drader will explore potentially helpful AI tools as well as concerns and potential pitfalls associated with this rapidly emerging technology.
  • Oct. 13 | World Mental Health Day | 1–5 p.m.
More people than ever are seeking ways to maintain wellness and care for their mental health. Participants will learn about mental health resources available through NCMC and the local community and will have the opportunity to create a personalized coping kit to take home.
  • Oct. 27 | Caring for Your ADHD Brain | 2:30–3:30 p.m.
Local psychologist Dr. Lilah Clevey will share evidence-based strategies for optimizing the functioning of an ADHD brain. The session will explore ways to tailor daily life to work with the brain rather than against it, along with practical self-compassion and self-care techniques. Whether newly diagnosed, experienced in managing ADHD or simply wondering about ADHD-like traits, participants will gain tools, insight and encouragement.

“We are excited for the opportunity to engage in learning and conversations about multiple topics related to mental health,” said NCMC counselor Joelle Drader. “Please join us and bring your curiosity and questions.”

All Talk About It Tuesdays sessions are free and open to students, staff and community members. No reservations are necessary.
