Health Department of Northwest Michigan COVID-19 Update

The Health Department of Northwest Michigan began receiving test results for residents tested at the May 30-31 drive-thru testing events. Due to the high volume of tests conducted with the support of the Michigan State Police and National Guard, backlogs have occurred and caused delayed reporting of results. We hope to start receiving results for those tested at the Odawa Casino drive-thru testing event soon, but those tested can create an account to view their results once available by visiting:

Over the past several weeks Rite Aid has worked to increase access to COVID-19 tests, and with the addition of the northern Michigan sites in Petoskey and Traverse City, Michigan now has access to testing at 15 Rite Aid locations. Beginning today, COVID-19 testing is available at the Rite Aid in Petoskey (630 W. Mitchell Street) Monday – Friday from 10 am – 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm. Tests are available by appointment to individuals 18 and older, with or without symptoms. A doctor's order is not required to get tested, and tests are free of charge to patients. To schedule an appointment for COVID-19 testing at Rite Aid, visit their website

Lisa Peacock, Health Officer, shares, “the mass testing events over the last few weeks have helped to significantly increase the number of tests we have done in our region, which in turns allows us to have stronger data to monitor the pandemic risk and changes. Although there is potential to see an increase in positive cases due to more testing, we are hopeful that we will continue to see a low positivity rate.”

As of 4:00pm, the Health Department of Northwest Michigan is reporting:
