Three healthcare credentials in less than five months

Become an NHA®-certified Clinical Medical Assistant, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician with our Fast-Track Healthcare program.

The Fast Track Healthcare Bundle Program prepares you for an exciting and rewarding career!  Start your career pathway with three in-demand healthcare certifications: Clinical Medical Assistant, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician.  You can earn these credentials in only five months.  Students will take the National Healthcareer Association® (NHA®) certification exams for CMA, EKG, and Phlebotomy.  North Central is an NHA® partner, and students may take the three exams on-site.

A medical assistant is a multiskilled allied healthcare professional that specializes in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory healthcare setting. Medical assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and assist a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. They typically work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or specialty practices. Common duties of a medical assistant include administrative and clinical tasks like:

  • Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
  • Answering phone calls and questions
  • Assisting providers with exams and procedures
  • Administering injections or medications
  • Working in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Performing EKG, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures
  • Taking patient vital signs

EKG Technician Stand-Alone: EKG Technician Certification
Class Dates: October 31 - November 23, 2022

As an EKG Technician you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

  • Set up and administer EKGs (electrocardiograms) and stress tests
  • Prepare patients for Holter or ambulatory monitoring
  • Edit and deliver final test results to physicians for analysis
  • Schedule appointments
  • Transcribe physicians’ interpretations

Phlebotomy Technician Stand-Alone: Phlebotomy Certification
Class Dates: November 28 - December 23, 2022

Tuition: $1,700

As a Phlebotomy Technician, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

  • Draw blood from patients and blood donors
  • Evaluate patients’ ability to withstand procedure
  • Explain blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer questions
  • Perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels
  • Prepare blood, urine and other specimens for testing
  • Verify patient/donor identity
  • Maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes and blood vials

Application and Registration Information

Applicants for the Bundle Program are selected by the Fast-Track Healthcare Program coordinator based on application criteria. Students must be 18 years or older and have earned a high school diploma or GED.  Tuition for the Fast-Track Healthcare Bundle Program is $3,500 and includes a workbook and other class materials, CPR certificate, on-site credential exams, and externships with local employers. Textbooks are provided to students for their use during the program, and are required to be returned when a student completes or withdraws from the program. Funding assistance is available for those who qualify.

The EKG Technician and Phlebotomy Technician classes are offered as part of the Bundle program and as stand-alone classes.  Students interested in taking EKG Technician as a stand-alone class must have a previous medical background (i.e., RN, LPN, CNA, PA).
