September 7 Social Gathering: Big Hats, Big Restaurants, Big Wines

Fantastic food, fabulous cars and fine wine will be served up at the fourth annual North Central Michigan College Garden Party, a fundraising event to provide professional trade scholarships to area students. The event will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the beautiful grounds of the Harris Gardens at North Central in Petoskey, Michigan.

The Garden Party will feature fare from a number of Northern Michigan’s best restaurants including Barrel Back, Chandler’s-A Restaurant, Stafford’s Hospitality and many more! The exquisite cuisine offered during the affair will be paired with over 50 of the finest wines provided by Great Lakes Wine & Spirits, a classic car display and live entertainment by The Greg Vadnais Quartet.

“The Garden Party is pleasant, if not pleasing.  It is one of the few charities that our industry, Hospitality, embraces…” said Sydney L. Ross, co-founder of The Garden Party Foundation and co-owner of Great Lakes Wine and Spirits, based in Highland Park. “We are giving the children and later young adults the opportunity to learn skills that WILL allow them to be self-sufficient and prosper – vocational training.”

Tickets for The Garden Party are $150 per person. Attire is traditional Garden Party chic. The hosts request that ladies wear hats. Guests must be 18 to attend. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.thegardenpartymichigan.org.

2019 Sponsors include: Great Lakes Wine & Spirits, Charity Motors, Pier and Renee Borra, Frey Foundation (Ted and Brenda Frey), Paul and Melissa Keiswetter and Petoskey Plastics.

About North Central Michigan College

A trained workforce is essential for manufacturing growth in Northern Michigan. Employers regionally and nationally have specifically identified the need for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tool operators and programs. North Central Michigan College has developed credit and workforce training programs that are being delivered in a self-contained mobile manufacturing training lab, the Fab Lab.  This 41-foot trailer contains 12 state-of-the-art computers and design programs, a lathe and turning station by Haas, Surf Cam and Solid Works software and a 3D printer.  The mobile unit is deployed to area high schools to offer credit-based courses and to manufacturing sites to offer convenient training to area employers. The success of the program led to another area partnership with the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians to build a stationary CNC lab on the Petoskey campus.

North Central Michigan College is an open-door community college based in Petoskey, with additional locations offering classes and services in Cheboygan and Gaylord. North Central’s mission is to provide educational, economic and cultural opportunities for student learning, personal growth and community improvement.  North Central is an Achieving the Dream Leader College and Veteran Friendly School.
