North Central Michigan College will offer a new summer lecture series on the third Wednesday of June, July and August in 2019.  These lectures will be held in the gym in the Student and Community Resource Center from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will be accompanied by a light breakfast buffet. 

            Our summer schedule is as follows:

            Wednesday, June 19 – Jerome Rand, Around-the-World Sailor.  Mr. Rand will be talking about his 271-day non-stop sail around the world aboard the Westsail 32, “Mighty Sparrow.”  This lecture, held in both August and November, sold out with a waiting list. 

            Wednesday, July 17 – Dr. Lori’s Antiques Appraisal.  Dr. Lori is the star antiques appraiser on the History channel’s The Curse of Oak Island and the Discovery channel’s Auction Kings. She has appeared on NBC’s Today show, Tonight show, as well as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Dr. Lori is an award-winning TV personality and TV talk show host with a Ph.D. in art history. She is also an internationally syndicated columnist and an author with 30 books to her credit.  She presents more than 150 shows each year.

Dr. Lori will also repeat her presentation and appraisals at 7 p.m.

            Wednesday, August 21 – Joanie McGuffin, Canadian Adventurer. Canoes for Conservation: Our Land Trust’s Approach to Engaging People in Ecology and Culture.   Joanie McGuffin is a public speaker, educator and one of the founders of the Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy She is the author of eight books with her photographer husband Gary. Six are photographic books chronicling their long distance paddling voyages and two are illustrated instructional paddling guides.

            Cost is $10 and includes breakfast. Reservations are required.  Please email or call 231-348-6600 to make a reservation.
