NORTH CENTRAL TO HOST “DRIVE THRU” VETERANS BREAKFAST NOVEMBER 11, 2020
North Central Michigan College will honor those who have served our country with a Veterans Day drive thru breakfast on Wednesday, November 11, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the North Central library parking lot on the Petoskey Campus.
Organizer of the event, Cpl. Dallas Culvahouse, director of the Student and Community Resource Center and Student Veterans Association advisor notes, “During this year of social distancing, limited events and cancellations of traditional gatherings like graduations, proms, and holidays, we are happy to keep one important event of honoring our local veterans with the traditional breakfast on Veterans Day, November 11th.”
The College will be providing breakfast for the first 200 vehicles. Breakfast will include a breakfast burrito with a choice of ham, sausage, bacon or plain, a muffin, juice, and coffee. Breakfast will be served “MRE style” or, for our older vets, “C-Ration style” in take-out containers.
Together with the Emmet County Veterans office, Student Veterans, Chase Bank, and other local businesses, North Central plans to create a safe event with minimal contact for veterans who participate. A veteran of the United States Marine Core himself, Culvahouse adds, “We are trying to keep everyone safe and still provide a moment to show honor to our veterans - and provide the comradery many of our veterans value this time of the year!”
Although large gatherings are not possible with the restrictions of the pandemic, North Central hopes to provide recognition to local veterans and their families who have served us by way of continuing this annual tradition at the college.
