EMS/EMT Programs at North Central Michigan College
Emergency Medical Services/Basic — Certificate of Development:
This program is designed as an introduction to Emergency Medical Services leading to Basic Emergency Medical Technician licensure. Basic EMTs undergo training in fundamental life support procedures and the principles of caring for and transporting individuals who are sick or injured. Basic EMT licensure qualifies individuals for entry-level positions as emergency care providers within municipal and private ambulance services, as well as certain hospital emergency departments.
Upon program completion, a graduate will be eligible to sit for the National Registry Exam, and upon successful completion, be licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic in the prehospital field of EMS, public safety, and fire rescue in many states.
Emergency Medical Technician (non-degree*):
