REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in educational technology, instructional design, education/curriculum development, or equivalent. Experience in higher education preferred. Demonstrated understanding of modern instructional design, adult learning theories, universal design, and usability principles through the development of complete course shells in an LMS. Experience evaluating and integrating Open Education Resources in the course design and development process. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, cloud-based technologies, basic graphic design tools, and basic HTML/CSS coding. Understanding of how to create accessible documents and multimedia files. Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in instructional design, education, education technology or related field and at least two years' experience in higher education. Experience developing learning outcomes and finding appropriate materials that align with specific outcomes Extensive experience with Learning Management Systems (D2L’s Brightspace experience a plus). Extensive technology toolbox of e-learning content development and assessment creation software. Instructional consulting experience and/or experience working in a faculty center. Experience with the Quality Matters rubric.  Experience with Jenzabar’s SIS.  Experience with web design.

Considerable working knowledge of copyright and intellectual property standards for educational materials. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. Effective teamwork, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Knowledge of academic structures and values. Ability to work with instructors from a wide range of academic cultures and disciplines; experience with Open Educational Resources (OER). Knowledge of theories of learning and educational research.

General Description:

This position reports to the Associate Dean of Instructional Technology, and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The person in this position provides knowledge and creativity in enhancing the use of Open Education Resources (OER’s) in the development and design of hybrid and online courses in the College’s Learning Management System (LMS); provides hands-on, full-service instructional design support for faculty developing hybrid and online courses; helps to develop and facilitate faculty training related to hybrid and online course design and facilitation; and helps to provide training and technical support in the use of instructional technology in all learning environments.

General Description:

Working in conjunction with the IT department, the Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a variety of systems used by the college.  As part of the IT team the Systems Engineer will work in a collaborative department which strives to give the best IT service possible to the Students, Guests, Faculty and Staff of North Central Michigan College. 

Duties Include:

  1. Oversee Helpdesk student workers.
  2. Implements and maintain computer deployment software for campus deployments.
  3. Interface/Liaison between end users and vendor software development teams to assure efficient use of software. Submits help desk tickets to vendors and participates in resolution.
  4. Maintains campus licensing including license servers.
  5. Preform onboarding and exit tasks for new hires/outgoing employees
  6. Support a variety of specialized software utilized by specific departments throughout campus.
  7. Implement and maintain electronic document storage and software.
  8. Implement and maintain classroom schedule software.
  9. Provide as needed support to the helpdesk function.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
